How our order process works

Overview:

Everything starts with an order and a customer contacting Nightline with instructions to pick up a parcel. Businesses in Ireland that use Nightline’s courier services on a daily basis can label their own parcels so they can be tracked en route.

The company’s Smartship® technology lets clients attach special labels to their packages which have a unique barcode. This means items can be digitally tracked at strategic locations as they head towards their destination. Please visit our Courier Ireland and Courier Northern Ireland pages for more information on the types of services we have to offer.

Day one – afternoon:

A local van operator is tasked with picking up the consignment from the customer. The item will then be driven to a regional depot where it will be sorted and prepared for its onward journey.

Day one – evening:

The time comes to move the parcels from the local depot and transport them to Nightline’s National Distribution Centre. Also known as the Hub, the company’s distribution headquarters is located close to Dublin Airport, which provides fantastic transport links. Once inside, the packages are again sorted according to their destination. Barcodes are also scanned by Nightline staff so customers can keep an eye on progress.

Day two – early morning:

The packages are now well on their way and will soon arrive at their Nightline destination depot, of which there are seven across Ireland. Yet again the parcels will have their barcodes scanned on arrival.

Day two – morning:

The time comes for the parcels to leave for their final destination. They are scanned one last time before being loaded onto vans to let clients know their items have all but arrived. The local van operators leave the local depot to start their delivery round and the process is almost complete.
